Kaziranga National Park in Assam


Discover a zonal delight which make green a vivid colour, Kaziranga National Park showcases a perfect balance in all its hues and shades. Spanning over an area of 430 sq. Kms, Kaziranga National Park is one of the famous wildife sanctuaries of India. Home to one horned Rhinos, Kaziranga National Park is counted in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Location:
It is located on National Highway 37 that runs through the park. Kaziranga or Kohora as it is called, is at a distance of 217 km from Guwahati, 96 km from Jorhat, and 75 km from Furkating via road.

Flora of Kaziranga National Park:
Flora of the Kaziranga National Park comprise three main types namely - tropical semi-evergreen forests, tropical wet evergreen forests and alluvial grasslands. The swamps of Kaziranga National Park is dominated by grasses, forests and have an abundant cover of water lilies, water hyacinth and lotus.

Fuana of Kaziranga National Park:

The park is home of One Horned Rhinos. It also boast largest number of Swamp Deer. The one with hunting spree might also be able to find Asiatic Elephant, Wild Buffalos moving through the swamp grassland.

Assam Tourist Attractions

Assam is one of the major cities of North East India. The word Assam has been derived from the Sanskrit word Ahom. Spanning over a territory of 78,523 square kilometers, Assam is a natural paradise to explore.

Some of the famous travel attractions of Assam are :

Kaziranga National Park :
Famous for housing the famous one horned rhinos, Kaziranga National Park is famous World Heritage Sites of Assam city. Established in 1974 , Kaziranga National Park has 42 species of fish, 9 species of amphibians, 27 species of reptiles, more than491 species of birds and 35 species of mammals.

Kamakhya Temple:
It is one of the holiest shrines of India and is regarded as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. It is located on a hill - the Neelachala Parvat near the city of Guwahati in Assam

Manas National Park:
Spanning over an area of 391 sq km, Manas National Park is a world Heritage Sites in 1985. Manas is a home of 19 of India's most endangered animal populations.
